This Privacy Policy explains how Yauheni Hlushankou, operating as ArcSmith Apps ("Eloquote," "we," "our," or "us") handles information when you use the Eloquote Android app, including quote browsing, quote creation, saved collections, home-screen widgets, daily notifications, and premium subscription features.
Local-First Design
Eloquote is designed as a local-first app. Your quotes, saved collections, category preferences, widget configurations, and notification settings are stored on your device using a local database and encrypted preferences. We do not operate user accounts, cloud sync, or a remote server that stores your personal content.
Information Stored on Your Device
The following data is created and stored locally and is not transmitted to us or any third party:
- Quotes you create, edit, or save to your collection
- Your selected quote categories and interests (19 categories including Motivation, Stoicism, Wisdom, Mindfulness, and others)
- Widget configurations — template, colors, typography, refresh schedule, and content source
- Notification preferences — schedule mode, time slots, quiet hours, and content source
- App theme preferences (light, dark, or system default)
- Discovery history and browsing state
This data may be included in Android Auto Backup to your Google account if you have device backup enabled in your Android settings. That backup is governed by Google's privacy policy, not ours.
Information Processed by Third-Party Services
When you purchase or restore a premium subscription, the following information is processed by our subscription infrastructure provider (RevenueCat) and Google Play:
- Subscription status, plan type, purchase token, and renewal state
- An anonymous app user identifier generated by RevenueCat (not linked to your name or email)
- Device and app metadata such as app version, OS version, device model, and country/region derived from your Google Play account
We do not collect or store your name, email address, payment card details, or Google account credentials. All payment processing is handled by Google Play.
Permissions
Eloquote requests the following Android permissions:
- Internet — required for subscription verification through RevenueCat and Google Play
- Notifications (Android 13+) — required to deliver daily quote notifications; you can disable this at any time in your device settings
How We Use Information
- Verify your subscription status and deliver premium features
- Process subscription purchases and restorations through Google Play and RevenueCat
- Provide daily quote notifications and home-screen widgets based on your local preferences
- Comply with legal obligations where applicable
Sharing Quotes
Eloquote allows you to share quotes to other apps using Android's standard sharing mechanism. When you share a quote, the content is sent directly to the app you choose. We do not receive, store, or track what you share or where you share it.
Legal Bases for EEA and UK Users
If you are in the EEA, Switzerland, or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract — when we provide the app, subscription features, and requested functionality
- Legitimate interests — for subscription fraud prevention and service integrity
- Consent — for delivering notifications when you grant notification permission
- Compliance with legal obligations — such as tax and consumer protection duties
Data Retention
Your locally stored data remains on your device until you clear app data or uninstall the app. Subscription records held by RevenueCat and Google Play are retained according to their respective policies and applicable legal requirements.
Your Rights and Choices
You have full control over your data in Eloquote:
- Delete any saved or user-created quotes directly in the app
- Change your category interests, widget settings, and notification preferences at any time
- Disable notifications through Android settings or within the app
- Remove widgets from your home screen at any time
- Clear all app data or uninstall the app to remove all locally stored information
- Manage or cancel your subscription through Google Play settings
- Disable Android Auto Backup for Eloquote in your device settings

Children
Eloquote is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. Because the app does not collect personal information or require account creation, there is minimal data exposure. However, premium subscription purchases require a Google Play account, which is subject to Google's age requirements.
Security
Your data is stored locally on your device using Android's standard database and encrypted preferences. Subscription verification uses secure HTTPS connections. No service is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of data stored on your device.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice in the app or by other appropriate means. The updated version becomes effective on the stated "Last updated" date.
